Services
Maternal Resources endorses the NatureBack Method of Pregnancy and Birth. NatureBack was coined by Dr. Yaakov Abdelhak. An obstetrician who spent over three decades working in the field of high-risk perinatology maternal-fetal medicine. This goal-oriented practical method can lower the risk or need for a cesarean delivery. NatureBack begins at the start of pregnancy, addressing the factors that can lead to a c-section. There are steps taken during each trimester to lower the risk of a c-section being necessary.
Maternal Resources provides a unique approach to pregnancy. They use techniques from high-risk perinatology, traditional obstetrics and gynecology, and the tradition of midwifery. So they can provide the best in prenatal care for expectant parents. All three fields of medicine combine to form one approach that focuses on the well-being of the whole individual and family unit when providing medical care. This practice cares for the mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of its patients, helping women become an expert in knowing their own bodies.
This practice employs many different types of modalities during pregnancy to meet each woman’s unique needs and goals. The care team strives to allow families to make their own choices, aligning their goals without any competing agendas or biases.
Specialty
Maternal Resources has a midwife on staff, Kristin Mallon, who is also a nurse, doula, and expert in acupressure, hypnobirthing, and the Bradley method of childbirth. There are also three other doulas on staff who can work with families to provide support during labor and delivery. Doulas provide additional support, helping reduce anxiety during labor. Many patients choose to work with doulas (in addition to physicians, nurses, and midwives) to help them achieve their goals for labor and delivery. Doula services include a prenatal meeting, 24-hour on-call support, natural pain relief measures, support with labor positioning, aromatherapy support, massage, acupressure, photography (upon request), and lactation support.
Maternal Resources also features a podcast called “True Birth.” This podcast is all about the raw, honest truth about labor, delivery, pregnancy, and postpartum recovery. Listening to the podcast can help women have better births and birth experiences without any sugarcoating. The podcast shares stories right from the labor room through the eyes of Dr. Yaakov Abdelhak.
This practice is special because it restores the intimacy, care, warmth, and personalization of care during one of life’s most beautiful times. They combine the best of modern medicine and traditional doula and midwifery care to provide spectacular services to patients and their families.
